Indian Air Force offers opportunities for UNMARRIED MALE INDIAN/NEPALESE CITIZENS from all districts of the state of Tamil Nadu, UT of Puducherry, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands to join as airmen. The recruitment test is for Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical trades) except Automobile Technician, Indian Air Force (Police), Indian Air Force (Security) and musician trades will be held at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Puducherry.

Age Limit

Candidates born between 17 January 2000 to 30 December 2003 (both days inclusive) are eligible to appear in the recruitment rally

Education Qualification

For Group ‘Y’ Trades {Except Auto Tech, IAF (P), IAF(S) & Musician Trades):

Candidate should have passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Class XII or Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate as well as in English in Class XII or equivalent examination OR Passed two years vocational course from Education Boards listed as COBSE member with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in vocational course or in Intermediate/Matriculation if English is not a subject in Vocational Course.

For Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) Medical Assistant Trade:

Candidate should have passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Class XII or Equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate as well as in English in Class XII or equivalent examination.

Physical Standard

Height: Height, Leg Length, Visual Standards, and Colour Vision are available on web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in

Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm

Weight: Proportionate to height and age

Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) shall not be acceptable

Hearing: Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.

Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

PFT consists of a 1.6 km run to be completed within 6 minutes 30 seconds. Candidates shall also have to complete 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 20 squats within the stipulated time to qualify for the physical fitness test.

Written Test

All candidates who qualify PFT shall undertake a written test on the same or subsequent day depending on the local conditions. The written test will be objective type and question paper shall be bilingual (English & Hindi) except for English paper. Answers are to be annotated on OMR sheet. Detailed procedure shall be explained before the conduct of the examination. The duration of the written test will be 45 minutes and shall comprise English as per the 10+2 CBSE syllabus and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA). CANDIDATES ARE TO QUALIFY IN EACH PAPER SEPARATELY.

Require Document

  1. Print out a copy of the provisional admit card for the recruitment rally
  2. HB pencil, eraser, sharpener, glue stick, stapler, and black/blue ballpoint pen for writing.
  3. Seven un-attested recent (taken not before November 2020) passport size color photographs (front portrait in light background without head gear except for Sikhs). The photograph is to be taken with the candidate holding a black slate in front of his chest with his name and date of photograph taken, clearly written on it with white chalk in capital letters.
  4. Original and four self-attested photocopies of matriculation passing certificate (required for date of birth verification).
  5. Original and four self-attested photocopies of matriculation mark sheets (Only applicable for two years vocational course holder when English is not a subject in Vocational course)
  6. Original and four self-attested photocopies of Intermediate/10+2/ equivalent examination passing certificate and marks sheet OR original and four self-attested photocopies of three years Diploma course passing certificate and mark sheets of all semesters.
  7. Original and four self-attested photocopies of NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificate (if applicable). Note. Under no circumstances shall the candidates be permitted to appear at the rally

Pay Scale

Salary: Rs. 26,900/- per Month

During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month shall be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Military Service Pay (MSP) pay shall be Rs. 26,900/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
